Careers and Job Exploration
In partnership with Goodwill Industries and Dan Vigue, Youth Jobs Coordinator, young people at the Teen Center can receive assistance with job hunting and filling out applications. Dan visits the club weekly to talk with teens and is accessible if teens need help finding employment. (link to Goodwill)
For teens who wish to go on to college, the Teen Center offers several resources:
The Teen Center has participated in Governor John Baldacci’s Task Force to Engage Maine’s Youth, an effort to discover the reasons that young people experience disruption in their school life. Failure to graduate from high school is a major reason people remain in poverty. The result of this Task Force is the development of a report and recommendations for action presented to the Governor in 2007. In May 2008, the report was made available to the public (link)
