Three Ways to Volunteer

The Augusta Boys and Girls Club for Teens offers three different kinds of volunteer opportunties.

Community Volunteers
Volunteers can offer a specific service. For example, Dan Vigue, Jobs Coordinator from Goodwill Industries, visits weekly to help young people find jobs. Other volunteers may offer art courses, music lessons, or physical activities. This year, the Teen Center will work with the University of Maine at Augusta to develop a group of volunteers who will come to the center and assist staff during Open Hours.

Americorp/VISTA Volunteer
This volunteer commits to a year of service under the National Corporation for Community Service. Our local contact is with the Communities for Children and Youth Vista Project, led by Chip Curry of the Muskie Institute at the University of Southern Maine. VISTA volunteers have a broader scope of activity that includes helping an organization that serves low-income individuals to build capacity and be sustainable. This can include fund-raising, increasing awareness of the project and grant writing.

Board of Directors
These volunteers play a very important role in the life of the Augusta Boys and Girls Club community. As a member of the Board of Directors, one is responsible for the club's sustainability. Board members offer support and advice in legal issues, health-related questions, and personnel concerns. They are legally responsible for the appropriate delivery of any service the club offers.

Volunteers are always welcome. Help make life better for young people in the greater Augusta community. Call us at 207-622-0452..

Take Time for Teens

We don’t have any problem hugging kids and saying, "I like you." Kids can tell the difference between a good, sincere hug and one that doesn’t feel very good. You can trust their judgment on that.
