yoUMAtter Is Kicking It Into Full Swing
"yoUMAtter" is an exciting collaboration between the University of Maine at Augusta and the Augusta Boys and Girls Teen Center. The program is designed to provide a consistent, reliable adult presence in the lives of Children and adolescents in the Augusta area. Our mentors act as positive role models, friends, and academic guides. The role of the mentor is to help a mentee learn to trust others, build self-esteem, create opportunity for academic learning and success, and increase awareness of civic responsibilities.

Re-Saleable Art!
The Teen Center staff is always on the look-out for creative ways to raise funds for the organization. One of those ideas has been the transformation and resale of old wooden chairs. For several years, teens have been painting and decorating old chairs at the Teen Center and selling them locally.
Now, thanks to The Pot Luck Shop in Hallowell, the chairs havel become more widely available. Sarah Morrill, the shop’s owner, sells the hand-painted chairs and gives 100 percent of the proceeds back to the Augusta Boys & Girls Club for Teens. Each chair has a tag explaining the partnership with the Augusta Boys and Girls Club for Teens and is signed by all of the artists who worked on it.
Visit The Potluck Shop at 109 Water Street in Hallowell, Maine, Wednesdays through Sundays, or call 207-623-8992.
